[BALI BLOG 2015] Day 2: Campuhan Ridge Walk, Bali Botanica Day Spa & Cafe Wayan !

PART 2 :

This morning we woke up really early for our trek at Campuhan Ridge Walk !

We left after having breakfast at the hotel and the hotel was very nice to have a free area shuttle .. so we got them to drop us off at outside of Warwick Ibah Hotel !

I came across this place while doing research on TripAdvisor and wow , the pictures are beautiful and I guess this place is gonna be much better in real life !

& boy it was .... AMAZING ! (& HOT!!)

We reached about 8am and it was already so hot ... the sun was awesome though .. Gotta have daily dose of sun and greens :)

1) Starting our journey right outside of WARWICK IBAH HOTEL  ! The entrance of the ridge walk is just beside the hotel , there is a slope downwards ....

After walking down the slope, we saw that there was a beautiful temple at the back and these few steps ! Follow the steps and the sign to reach Campuhan Ridge ...

Walked along the walls of the temple and it was so beautiful ... Everything seems so surreal with the gorgeous weather and Balinese architecture !

Yes we reached the start of the walk ! This is where lush greenery and the sound of nature is .... Hahaha.. there were a lot of insects noises but not much mosquitos ... It's just the sound they were making ...

Stunning views !

Sooooo beautifullll

Can you believe it's already so glaring hot at 8.30am ?! Hahaha..

We walked and walked to hunt for a place called KARSA KAFE , apparently everyone says that you must reach this Cafe to show that it's the midpoint of the walk !

Research told us that it would take 15mins from the start of the walk... but NO WAY ... It was about 25mins.. and we did not walk slowly !!!! HAHAA

We passed by so many small art shops/galleries along the way to Karsa Kafe .. and these are opened by the artists themselves ! They painted all the paintings they were selling at their shop ! And it was  A LOT of paintings ...

We went in one of them and bought some small paintings , about bigger than A5 size but smaller than A4... Oil on Canvas and only SGD 5.. DAMM CHEAP .. The paintings damm nice too !!!! The kind lady told us that she sells them for 2X the price to the art galleries in Ubud City Centre and they will mark up further.. So want to buy cheap, good, real paintings, please come here !

Yay we finally reached Karsa Kafe at the end of the video... hahaha...

Took some pictures at the rice fields beside the Kafe .. IDK why but rice fields make you so relaxed...

Started to walk back to where we started (retrace our route) back to the Warwick Ibah Hotel as I've planned Spa Session at the Bali Botanica Spa ! The whole walk took about 1.5 hours for us , we did not finish the walk...But we covered the key points ! Hahaha...

Oh I decided to try this spa after checking out it's website and IT IS WHAT SPA DREAMS ARE MADE OF :D

Chickens along the way ...

The Spa Driver picked us up right outside Warwick Ibah Hotel and whisked us away to Spa Paradise..

BALI BOTANICA DAY SPA (about 10min drive from Camphuhan Ridge Walk) , they have free pickup and droopy service to nearby locations!!

I highly recommend that you make reservations way in advance because it's always fully booked !

They are very responsive and helpful communicating through email and always willing to answer my many questions.. hahaha..

1) Affordable
2) Beautiful
3) Skillful
4) Responsive and Friendly
5) SO DAMMN GOOD

They have a lovely garden compound and after filling up the spa form and choosing our packages, we were led to the back to have our treatments ... The lady who went through the types of treatments with us spoke fluent English and was soo nice .. Everyone is so nice in Bali .. Haha..

We both took this treatment : Mandi Lulur

1 Hour Massage
30 Min Body Scrub
20min Floral Bath
Total 1hr 50min

Mandi Lulur - Floral Bath

Full body - 1 hour and 50 minutes

17th century Javanese royal treatment.
A signature herbal massage, followed by spice scrub (turmeric, sandal wood and rice powder) exfoliation with yogurt for moisturizer and a fragrant blossom bath!
*Extracted from Bali Botanica Website

Guess how much ????

ONLY RP 200,000
SGD 20

I couldn't believe the quality for this price at first ! See to believe.. Really.. Hahaha..

Maybe that's why its so popular !!!

When we walked into the treatment room, we were already blown away..

The facing is to the outside greenery, it's a mini valley.. can hear the sound of nature, and the gorgeous greenery !! Wow..

THIS IS LIFE (Dipping in rose petals, looking at the greenery scenery with a cup of hot ginger tea) I could do this forever ! Nothing else comes close.. 1001% RELAX

Thank you Bali Botanica for pampering us and we will definitely be BACK !!!!

The Spa Driver once again very kindly dropped us at Cafe Wayan , where we planned to have our lunch here.. We did tip him .. Actually we were very generous in tipping while we were in Bali .. At first we did not know why they were so touched and happy when we gave them a SGD5 equivalent, but after that realised that actually it is quite a lot for them .. so that felt nice :)

Video on Cafe Wayan below ! This was actually taken when we were about to leave the place.. hahaha...

LUNCH AT CAFE WAYAN !

Beyond Expectations, once again. Our first trip to Bali keeps blowing us away !

This is a gorgeous cafe/restaurant with garden grounds of its own. And the gardens are so beautiful !

Well I went to walk around the compound and we decided to sit in the pavilion ..

Time for Food !!!

Nasi Goreng and Nasi Campur ??!
In any ways, the food was SOOO GOOD... Indonesia food at its best.. IDK if I sound exaggerated but I really felt it was soo nice ..

DO NOT FORGET TO TRY THEIR DESSERTS -
Repeat after me ....

As this place is called CAFE WAYAN AND BAKERY , it definitely lived up to its name.. the strawberry cheesecake was beyond expectations and certainly nicer than Secret Recipe , thanks to the jelly layer on top !!

We had dragonfruit ice-cream and also Lemongrass ice-cream.. so exotic.. its home made by them !

WOW !

Just washing my hands at the tap... Elephant tap.. Haha..

Outside of the Cafe

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAFE... They also organise Cooking Classes as well.. Apparently this Cafe has been established for many years and it is a family business..

It is also very well known in Ubud as once we told the driver [Cafe Wayan] he said it is a good choice. Haha.. BONUS: The whole meal came up to be about SGD 15 per pax only ?!!!! Ambience win... Hehee...

After this lunch, we headed back to our hotel , checked out and made our way to our next destination, AYANA RESORT ... My only regret is staying in Ubud for only ONE DAY ... One day NOT ENOUGH .. T_T ... I will be back Ubud !!!!!!!!!

[BALI BLOG 2015] Day 1: Green Field Ubud Bali Review - A Hidden Paradise

Hello pals ! Here to blog about my trip to Bali 2015 May !

It was the first time to Bali for the both of us ..
and we were really looking forward to this 4 days trip !

We did lots of planning and research for this .. Usually we will just share / edit our itinerary on google docs.. for our trips usually I'm the one doing all the planning and I'm ok with it because I like doing the research and as long as THE GUY PAYS... (thankfully he is completely OK with this arrangement) HAHAHAAAA :D

We pre-booked our flights on Singapore Air (always fly SQ) way before the trip , so our promotion return air tickets prices are only like SGD 240 per pax.. is that cheap or what?!!

Its' an evening flight where the skies were so drop dead gorgeous and we even saw the sunset and the burnt clouds.. it was such a pleasant flight and we had yummy dinner ! The tickets were so worth it omg...

In mid air

Arrival at Bali Denpensar Airport ! Its open air .. so Balinese .. haha

actually for this night we just wanted to stay somewhere near the airport .. so we booked that in advance and also our following hotels such as Ayana and Le Jardin Villa.. did not intend to visit Ubud..

But after consideration we decided to make the most of our trip and also visit Ubud this time !

So we booked our Ubud stay (1 night) for tonight ! We travelled to Ubud after our flight ...

We arrived the airport around 9.30pm or 10pm.. and pre-arranged our hotel driver to come and pick us .. We were going to stay at Green Field Ubud tonight ..

Gotta say we experienced the true Balinese hospitality here.. the staff were so prompt in replying all the emails (I had lots of questions such as late arrival, pick up from airport at night and also early check out , tours etc) and they all served us so well... what amazes me is that the hotel is not expensive hotel, yet the staff is so well trained ! btw, this hotel only SGD 125 per night. OMG

Our driver putting our stuff into the car

Well it takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to reach Ubud from the Airport...

Along the way , I had a terrible stomachache and needed the loo like ASAP..
The driver managed to find a loo for me (so damm grateful) and even paid the parking for the place , which he did not collect from us.. but we gave him a tip when we reached anyway :)

It was all very dark and roads were small , so we did not take much pictures..

We reached Green Field Ubud at about 11.30pm to 12am .. In the middle of the night..

We were actually very surprised by the large compound of this place, its like a huge compound with lots of 2 storey huts (2 rooms per floor) ... Well this didn't show on the booking website ! Hahaha.. Wow...

Despite reaching in the middle of the night , a staff personally brought us to our room and introduced everything thoroughly !!

Anyway we were dammn tired and just bathe and sleep ! Because the next day we had a long day ahead...

We booked a room on the 2nd storey , with balcony facing rice fields .. we couldn't see anything in the dark though.. haha

Wow so luxe .. this hotel only SGD 125 per night ok (Breakfast Included) !!! OMG

They also had a book of activities we could participate.. man I wished I stayed here for longer !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We woke up to an amazing sight , indescribable feeling ! So beautiful and lush.. The pics on the booking site didn't really do it justice and we were blown away because its out of our expectations..

View from our balcony !

I could sit here all day but we planned the day activities rather tightly T_T

I gotta say something about the air ... the air is so rejuvenating , revitalising, so fresh and crisp.. took a couple of deep breaths and could feel my body renew again.. I never felt the air like that before.. I know maybe sound very exaggerated but that's what I felt.. HAHAHA...

Pardon no make up face....

Room tour shot on the Gopro .. I actually have a ton of Bali Videos but I dunno how to edit nicely into youtube vids :(

Going down for breakfast ! Breakfast is at the restaurant .... 5 mins walk from our hut..

Can you see on the right side of this pic, there are many small building like that.. and the compound is actually huge...

See below for a half of the compound tour we had before we went for breakfast.. haaa the other half is in another video !

#ootd ------ every corner in this place is so instagrammable .. lol..

Breakfast Menu !!!!!!! Breakfast included in the hotel price omg...

BREAKFAST :D

My simple yummy buffet breakfast.. fried mee , fruits, pancakes, eggs, mee soto and most importantly, LEMONGRASS TEA .. I dammn love these tea..

Explored a little more of the compound.. isn't this pavilion AMAZING...

We went back to the room to pack and check out ... as we planned to go to Camphugan Ridge Walk and also pre-arranged Spa after .. we will only reach back to the hotel after 12pm, so we checked out first...

We only stayed one night.. T_T

I definitely need to come back for longer....

Check out my video below for Part 2 of the compound tour.... everything was so beautiful !

This is the reception area :)

And they had this amazing pond

So many lounging areas... wish we could just chill here !!! Aiya ....

The hotel was very kind to send us to Warwick Ibah Hotel for free , where the start of Campuhan Ridge walk is ...

This hotel blew away all my expectations of customer service and hospitality, everyone greeted us, were so friendly and accommodating.. they speak good english too !

5 STARS !!!!!!!!!

And also the compounds were nothing short of AMAZING !!!!! I can say its the best place I ever stayed .. until I reached Ayana.. HAHAHAHA

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had the morning walk at 8am and it was already very hot !!!! (This will be in a separate post)

After Campuhan Ridge Walk , we had spa at Bali Botanica ... had lunch at Cafe Wayan and came back to the hotel to get our luggages and stuff...
